Spring has truly arrived in Burgundy; I would even say the (rapidly unnerving) early heatwave too. Will this be yet another glorious Spring borne damp squib in the months of summer (Sorry about that).
Into the fridge I looked and a tiny voice cried out, “Drink me!!”. And so I pulled the cork on a quite delidiously off-dry Domaine Huet 2005 Le Mont Demi-Sec. It really is just off-dry and with almost ten years age that four-square chenin structure has filled out the softness of the residual sugar.
A perfect warm Spring evening apéritif. And a perfect foil to the 1997 Rioja Reserva from Besagain, which was unfortunately corked.
