Tony Soprano

James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano. Sorely missed

I refer to my earlier post. They are lining up in The Observer and on the Andrew Marr Show to blame Labour for ditching New Labour. And they are right.

“The way to the summit is through the middle”. And it will be a long climb from here.

Tony Blair may have made a mess of Irak (he only had to say sorry and he would probably still be in No. 10) but he won three elections in a row with social justice and individual betterment as goals.

That is where you start. If the punters feel flush, they will be ready to indulge with their good will. And if you make more cream, there’s more cream to cream off. You are going nowhere without business on your side.

I don’t know why I feel so concerned; I don’t vote in the UK any more. but the ragged socialist government in France is a proof in point. If you are lost in dogma, treading water in a post-Mitterand reverie, you are only heading south.

New Labour is dead, long live New Labour!
